The Importance of the Contemperary Issues Class
The Importance of learning about Contemperary Issues is it teach us what is going on in the world today and things that we should know about. Things that we should keep up on like if a new law is made.
What impacted me from this class is i learned how to blog and find certain things on the internet. I learned more how to use the computer than I use to.
The Thing i learned about and stuck with me the most was Proposition 19 and the war on terror.
I think i will be interested in learning more about the war on terror. I think it was very interesting and i might do something like that in the future as going to the military
Privacy and FBI spying
When ever people actually had their rights of privacy was in about 2010. They were putting up servellance cameras at this time on the roads and it wasn’ just for traffic. People started losing there rights in 2012 when everytime you turned a corner there was an FBI van. If you were living your normal life at home watching your favorite show and the FBI walks in to make sure you arent doing anything illegal even though you don’t have any charges or did anything wrong. People were getting upset and started to attack the FBI officers when they saw them. There was more people in jail for violence against an officer. The streets were quiet all throughout the United States beause if this act they have done. in 2015 people got tired of this and started grouping up and fighting guns with guns. This lead up to another civil war. This was Government against its people. The war has been going on for years and still is going on. It all started from the Government being to worried about things happening and wouldn’t just let things happen and get those people.
Back in 2010 the only legal drugs were tobacco and alcohol. Marijuana was legal for medical uses only. In 2012 Marijuana became legal in California. There were pictures posted online of the California govenor (Arnold Schwarzenegger) smoking a blunt. Other drugs did not become legal from the things it can cause. By the time 2020 came it was legal all over the United States. They had finally passes Proposition 19 through out U.S. Since it became legal not as many people abused it. When it first was legal everyone had smoked it, but after a year people realized it wasn’t something you could do daily or weekly. It would severly hurt peoples lives.
During 2022, a group of scientists from Meramec found out how to take the addictive chemicals in cocaine and changed the name to “Clown Powder”. They started to sell it at smoke shops and gas stations and people realized what it was and went worldwide. Nothing happened in the area of drug policy until 2035. In 2035 people started riots for more “Clown Powder”. Government had lost their rescorces for it and could not access more of it. In the Rocky Mountains they had made a field of marijuana in a shape of a marijuana leaf which is about 1 mile sq.ft.
SUMMARY
Homemade bomb killed four civillians in Afghanistan. They were riding a tractor. Washington and its allies want to hand over the country’s security to Afghanistan by the end of 2014 and eventually withdraw. In an overnight operation, Afgan foces and Nato forces killed Fared Gul, a Taliban member involved in roadside bombings. Suicide bombers in Afghanistan seem to go for government or Nato vehicles. Kandahar province was killed by an unknown gunman.
RESPONSE
Why would the bombers be killing their own people when we are the ones that are at war with them? Thats just putting them in a worse position in society because we have already killed many of their civillians. They can do what they please though. It is their country.
SUMMARY
A scientist found this planet and its 3x bigger than jupiter they say. It orbits the sun, HIP 13044b. this was announced Thursday. HIP 13044b had been through its red gaint phase.
RESPONSE
I think this is cool because maybe if we send something to this planet we might find life on it. Who kn ows just because it came from a different Galaxy there is a chance something could be on there.
Doctor sending marijuana to his hotel room
SUMMARY
Dr. Bruce Levy was caught sending weed to his hotel room by drug agents. They also found several smaller containers of the drug which appeared to be evidence bags. He was guilty of unprofessional, dishonorable or unethical conduct. Instead of pulling his license, the board placed Levy upon probation for a period of more than five years.
RESPONSE
I think this is really fun. I knew this would have come up sooner or later. He is a very lucky man to be able to keep his license and only be on probation for 5 years. He got a better offer than anyone in school that would have got caught with that or with the police.
SUMMARY
Early this month, police were called to 3600 block of Penrose. they said Elvin Craig, 69 year old man. was severly injured to the head. a few days later he had died. Witnesses said they saw 3 men running away from the crime scene
RESPONSE
For someone to do that to an elder person is just evil! When they reach a certain age they are as helpless as a baby. 3 men didn’t have to do that. One person would have been enough and i don’t think they would have had anything to do with the man. Who knows? I hope these men go to jail for what they did.
SUMMARY
Police said, “Shots were fired Tuesday at a Coast Guard recruiting station in a Woodbridge, Virginia, strip mall. Some believe the shooting was related to other overnight shootings at the Pentagon. Chinn said, “Ï would say it’s relatively similar. We won’t know until we get ballistics.” The Marine museum shooting took place early on October 17, and 10 bullets were fired. Shots were fired at the Marine Corps recruiting station early on October 25, according to the FBI. Fortunately, no one was injured in any of the shootings.
RESPONSE
I believe they have a strong possibility on finding out who’s responsible for this. They already have a lead on who did this because some of the bullets left a streak on the window. I’m glad no one was kilt or injured. I hope authorities find this people that are doing the shooting even if it multiple people because eventually someone with get hurt or even loose thier life.
SUMMARY
In a smuggling operation, U.S. authorities found 30 tons of marijuana being transported in a tunnel under the Mexico border. Officials say that 26 tons of marijuana was going to San Diego, 10 tons of it were found by authorities when a tractor trailer was transporting it from the Otay Mesa warehouse, and Mexican military found five tons in Tijuana warehouse.
RESPONSE
I think this is a very outragous amount of marijuana. Im pretty sure this is not for personal use so its probably going to be a huge felony on someones record. This must have taken an extremely long time to get that juch of this or of anything.
Proposition 19
What is Proposition 19?
Proposition 19 is about the legalization of marijuana in Califonia. Votes came out to be 56 to 46 percent. The propistion would have legalized possession of an ounce or less and permitted small household cultivation for adults over 21. It would have aloud cities and counties to put taxes and regulate ratail pot sales

Everyone that has put any effort to help pass it or not pass it and the everyone that will smoke it.

everyone that wants to smoke.

the poeple that do not want prop 19 to pass and those under the age of 21
Where does this proposition apply?
California, Oregon, South Dakota, Arizona, and Colorado
If it does pass in California, does it have the ability to spread though out the U.S.?
I think yes, because if one state passes it other might think why not and they might see how well their state is donig after the propostion has passed.
If it does not pass, what is the possibility of it passing in any other state?
I think other states will have a problem passing it if the states that are under prop 19 don’t pass it.
How is the issue behind this proposition relevant (connected) to today and society’s views on the topic?
I think it would be smart to make it legal because people will still smoke it and the effects it has on you is different than other drugs.

SUMMARY
There as an American Airline plane going to Boston from Miami. Sudenly the plane started losing pressure. Immediately the crew called for an emergency landing. The plane turned around and headed back towards Miami. Once they got back and landed safely, authorities searched the plane. They found a one-foot by two-foot gap. Auhorities are now trying to find out how and why this hole is there.
RESPONSE
I wonder why there would be a hole like that in a plane. If i would have found a hole in a plane i would have searched the plane for a bomb or anything. I would have spoke to everyone on the plane because something ro someone had to get on for a reason so maybe they were trying to get on with out paying or trying to get off. I hope they find out who did it and why.
Children are the Robbers
SUMMARY
6 kids were accused of a string of robberies in north Florida. The believe to be in between the ages 10-15. These kids stole jewlery,guns,computers and other items in nine burglaries since April. The kids said that the didn’t think that they were hurting anyone. They said that they would watch the house that they were going to rob. The 10 year old kid would go and knock on the doors to see if anyone was home.
RESPONSE
I think this is alittle messed up. Kids younger than I am and they are robbing homes. I think some games are influencing kids to do it. They think it looks fun, so they go out in the real world and try it out. Sooner or later its just gonig to be a game to them till things like this happend. Them going to jail. Thats just what i think…..

SUMMARY
Michele Kalina, a 44 year old women, hid at least 6 pregnancies. She would keep the babies in a cooler or encased in cement. At least four of the babies came out of the whom. DNA test shows the bones that were in a locked closet came from five babies. Her longtime boyfriend had fathered three and possibly four of the victims. Family members found them this year. she was charged with abuse-of-corpse.
RESPONSE
I think this lady is crazy. Why would kill so many of your babies? Why would you kill your baby at all. I know they were her babies but they still don’t deserve that kind of treatment at all. If you didn’t want your kid/baby you can always but it up for adoption. I guess Michele was to lazy and didn’t want to do the paper work or something.
